Sunday 4th May, The Whiteway, Cirencester
Sponsored by P&A Haulage
Next May bank holiday over 400 boys and girls, aged 11 to U18 Colts, are taking part in the 47th annual 7s tournament at Cirencester Rugby, which started way back in 1978.
The hugely anticipated event has attracted teams from across the county and beyond. We have 8 clubs from Gloucestershire, 4 from Wiltshire, 1 from Herefordshire and 1 from Warwickshire. There are 7 age groups (11s - Colts), with 5 teams in each group and 12 players per team which amounts to over 400 players.
The tournament is believed to be the longest running, competition of its kind in the country! A traditional event in the Cirencester Rugby calendar and organised by a small team of club coaches and volunteers.
Chairman, Rich Millbank said: “We are thrilled with the uptake and registration this year where we are putting on a day of 7s rugby for around 8 age groups. Thanks also to the M&J volunteers who are helping to run the day, their support is essential for us to put on such an event of this size, providing refreshments for all visitors. The festival celebrates the end of the season and delivers a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.”
Staging such competitions is not possible without the support of local businesses and Cirencester thanks P&A Haulage, a local construction and haulage firm as the main event sponsor for their generous support.
The CRFC playing kits are proudly sponsored by Dave Keates of Classic Windows & Conservatories, Minety.
Two new P&A Haulage trophies (one for Juniors 11-14 and one for Youth 15-Colts) will be up for grabs, named the CRFC Fair Play Awards and awarded to the player that exemplifies the RFU core values.
The first matches start at 9.00am with the closing awards and presentations around 4.30pm. The clubhouse and bar is open all day for refreshments and a BBQ is serving food and all are welcome to enjoy the Bank Holiday festivities at the Whiteway. Parking costs £5/vehicle and helps cover club costs.
