Information
The philosophy strongly adhered to in the lower levels is that enjoyment and participation come before winning. The children are coached by fully qualified adults, whether fathers or keen volunteers, in all aspects of the game. In the youngest age-groups the children play non-contact touch rugby where the emphasis is on running and passing skills, and then as the children develop so the aspects of physical contact and tackling are introduced until at Under 13 level the boys are playing the full 15 a-side game. Training sessions and matches are organised on a rota-basis throughout the season so that skill levels and concentrated coaching can be gradually introduced. As well as all the coaches being qualified, so also are the referees who officiate in matches and all of the main coaching staff have CRB clearance. There are also trained individuals in first aid. Following matches food and drink is given to all those children who have participated in the Clubhouse.
Coaching takes place each Sunday morning at Cirencester Rugby Club, The Whiteway, Cirencester (10 – 12:00 am). If there is no coaching then a fixture will take place at the same time, details from the relevant coaches, on this website or on the Youth notice board in the clubhouse.
The emphasis within the club is on involvement of all children, enjoyment and the development of basic rugby skills within the RFU's youth rugby framework.
If you have a query with the main rules of the game, then www.irb.com/EN/Laws+and+Regulations/ is the website.
The Youth continuum can be accessed at www.rfu.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/RFUHome.Refereeing_Detail/StoryID/2872.
We strictly follow the RFU Continuum for Junior rugby and any new player needs to be registered to be covered by RFU insurance for playing. They will need to fill out 2 forms, one for the Club and the other for the RFU. The annual sub is £50, payable to Cirencester RFC, this includes all match and coaching expenses. The parents will then be social members of the club and the child will receive an RFU registration card, eligible until they are 19. You will require 4 passport sized photographs to accompany the RFU form. If you are already RFU registered then you need to fill in the Club's annual registration form and the RFU form to inform them of your transfer. If you have more than one child the cost is only £22 for them. Please return all forms and money to Roger Abraham (01285 656590)~ his address in on the forms available from the club.
The club has decided to limit the numbers within age-groups, due to the fact that we do not have unlimited resources or facilities to accommodate players. It has also been decided that children under 6 shall not be able to participate as again we do not have the facilities to accommodate them.
